Combining traditional rock and folk elements with experimental sonic landscapes - including tribal percussion, white noise and harmonic vocal beds - Bartholomew is poised to continue his artistic and commercial growth for years to come. Following a showcase performance in February, Jezebel Music noted, "2008 promises to be a year of incredible growth for this ambitious songwriter." With the release of his debut EP World on a Wire in April, appearances at New York’s premier venues and regional touring, Bill Bartholomew has defined himself as an original and compelling artist on the rise.

Bill Bartholomew Band play Arlene's Grocery on Tuesday July 1st, 8pm (7pm doors).

The band’s fusion of classic glam rock, post punk and modern Brit-pop has raised more than a few eyebrows, earning them comparisons to legends such as David Bowie, Echo and The Bunnymen and The Verve, and the praise of Sex Pistols founder, Glen Matlock. Phantastic’s dark, ultra-expressive vocals and snake-charmer bass lines are complimented by the lush, hypnotic guitar lines of Mik Rodriguez, the elegant power guitar attack of Dr. Michael Fate, and the rhythmic pulse of drummer Patsy-A-Go-Go. Starbolt 9 has now become New York City’s foremost neo-glam band.

Starbolt 9 has played at such prestigious NYC venues as The Knitting Factory, The Mercury Lounge, Crash Mansion, and The Rothko along with comparable venues outside the metro-area, spanning the Northeastern coast. They have played alongside notable bands such as The Fiery Furnaces, Slinky Vagabond, We Are The Fury, and Spindrift. They have performed live for 107.7 WACC in Connecticut.

Before beginning sessions on their latest record, the band, consisting of the core duo, songwriter / multi-instrumentalist Jase Blankfort and drummer/ percussionist Mateus Tebaldi, gained notoriety with the success of their debut album "Mode To Joy" and arduous touring of the country. Recent highlights include a featured story in Billboard Magazine, performing at Webster Hall, headlining the Central Park
Bandshell, and being crowned the “best independent act in the northeast” by winning the 2007 Independent Music World Series, hand-picked by Billboard.

In Summer of 2008, Glint can be found rocking the mic and using their unique blend of "space rock" to set minds a-spin across the nation in support of their latest studio effort, Sound in Silence, including residencies in New York City. The record was recorded on a private mountaintop in Oregon with producer Nic Hard (The Bravery, Aberdeen City) and debuts June 4th (US) and June 18th (Internationally) on iTunes, and in-store the beginning of July. After being intrigued by a show, Modern Art Contemporary Mark Kostabi decided to prepare all album artwork for the highly anticipated Sound in Silence.

For the critically acclaimed live shows, the band proudly joins forces with Alon Leventon on synthesizers / keys and Dave Johnsen on bass. Hypnotizing and quirky, Cells Planets captures Little Grey Girlfriend's live sound (occasionally leaving the sound space of a stage for an imaginary world filled with overdubs and electronic noises.) Using cello, upright bass, the layering of vocal harmonies, and live drums, are some of the new ways in which they formed a mostly acoustic album. This Brooklyn based band has often been compared to Brazilian Girls, The Bird and The Bee, and Au Revoir Simone. Their music is innocent, dark, and danceable at the same time. Miss Lloyd's vocals provide a blanket of purity and natural sense to the juxtapositions of musical styles.

In response, O Pioneers singer / songwriter Sara Shaoul takes up the muted voice of the folk heroine.

Her songwriting often draws inspiration from classic literature and poetry, from Willa Cather (as the band name implies) to Amy Lowell, who’s epic poem of love and murder, "Evelyn Ray" is reconfigured as an evocative, minimalist ballad. On the EP’s first track, Baudelaire’s “A Une Passante” inspires a broken- hearted plea to an Ipod-dependent passerby that "Everything's a song, and you don't hear me when i call."

O Pioneers showcases their unique folk/pop sound, reminiscent of the Decembrists and Cat Power, at the Living Room on 6/28 at 10pm.

Formed in the wake of the successful garage act Breakup Breakdown, Bel Air's three founding members (Allie Langerak, Jeff Mensch & Wyatt Tuzo) decided for a very different musical approach than their previous incarnation. Where Breakup Breakdown was known primarily as a touring band, Bel Air recorded and completed Pole to Pole before ever playing live. The album was recorded by Tuzo in theband's Greenpoint practice space surrounded by the constant noise of other band's rehearsals. You would never know this though, as the album is filled with intimate arrangements filled with acoustic guitars, percussion, melodica, saxophone, keys and multi-layered male and female vocal harmonies. Part of the record was even recorded on the road as the band set up a mobile studio in Philadelphia in order to have famed slide guitarist Mike "Slomo" Brenner (Magnolia Electric Company, Marah) perform on a few tracks.

While Bel Air's arrangements and production is decidedly country-tinged, the songs are still rooted in the foundation of rock and pop music. Compiling the influences of the band’s three diverse writers into one album makes for a compelling and addictive listen that somehow moves beyond the classification of Americana into something wholly new that can best be described at 'dream country.'

They will be celebrating the release of the album at Spike Hill in Williamsburg on July 11th, 2008 at 9pm with Amity Front.

Uncle Monsterface releases their second full-length album for free (for a week with a catch), kicking off a month of antics leading up to a six-week national tour...

Everywhere, USA - Uncle Monsterface, self-proclaimed sock puppet rock band, proudly releases their second full length album, 'This is an Adventure!' - and for one week it is FREE FOR DOWNLOAD...Free with a promise, that is...

For one week, beginning June 2, 2008 Uncle Monsterface will put their album in the hands of not just the press, but everyone. For free. With a promise. All that we ask is this: if you download it for free, please tell other people what you think about it...

The album is available as high resolution mp3s in its entirety at www.unclemonsterface.com for one week only. Download it and promise to tell everyone what you think. A pdf of the artwork and lyrics will be available, too!

Standing at a proud 38+ minutes and featuring 14 new full-length songs and several other bits of weird, the ambitious undertaking aptly titled 'This Is an Adventure!' features no less than three songs about vampires (unlike certain other conspicuously named Brooklyn-bands and their distinct LACK of songs about vampires). The album also includes but is not limited to songs about: monkeys made of wood, giant robots, murder, love, zombie attacks, an ode to D & D's founding father - Gary Gygax, outer space, werewolves, outer space werewolves, and a song about a homunculus made of broccolli and a ship made of popsicles. And a song about war between Vampires and Mashed Potatoes... And more...

Known for quirky songs laden with weirdness and geek-culture references as well as a over-the top live show featuring video projections, a sock puppet theater, giant monsters, and tons of energy - Uncle Monsterface is Marty Allen yelling and jumping about, (Paradise) Dan Brennan playing rock guitar, and (Perfect) Jimmy Bernardinelli on the keytar. Originally from Boston, Monsterface set up their home-base in Brooklyn two years ago. "This Is an Adventure" is their second full-length album.

"Uncle Monsterface is a multi-media experience, a term that does the surreal phenomenon that is this band no justice...If sock puppets, psychedelic prairie dogs and inflatable lobsters aren’t your thing, you should probably move along." - musicpost.com

See also:
www.unclemosterface.com
www.youtube.com/unclemonsterface
www.myspace.com/unclemonsterface

Sleepy yet overdriven, with a rawness that would shame Beat Happening, the demo led to the formation of Gentle Ben Control Team, which performed its only gig that spring featuring then-scraggly guitarist John MacDonald on the SG.

In September 2003, Sam met bassist Tater Read at a private school job, and was taught the art of listening to other people's ideas. Songs were then converted from mere east coast Jewish tirades into multi-layered, multi-regional swamp anthems. The band remained tragically nameless until sometime in the spring of 2005, when it dubbed itself Kinopalatsi after the Finnish word for "movie house." Tennessee transplant and drummer Drew Eastmead joined in late 2005 and helped cut most of the songs to lengths that would satisfy any ADD-ridden wall scratcher. In the fall of 2006, MacDonald reemerged from the dregs of Philly, with 82 songs and almost as many effects pedals to spare. Shortly after, sick of people not being able to spell or pronounce its name, the band officially called itself Worst Case Ontario. The lineup then recorded its first album, "Burning Politely," between January and August 2007, guided gracefully by Gregg and Rich of Suspyre and mastered by Len Monachello.

Ex-HeadQuarters drummer Tim Perzan joined in late 2007.

Worst Case Ontario has played venues all around NYC and would like to play elsewhere as people don't smile much here. Most recently, the band performed at Luna Lounge, Fontana's, Arlene's Grocery, Knitting Factory Tap Bar and Siberia.

Purchase copies of "Burning Politely" at CDbaby.com. All songs are also available for download on iTunes.
