Here comes your "Not quite hump day but it beats Monday all to #%&$" edition of The Pulse Morning Show!
The Maine People's Alliance has brought a storm of controversy down onto themselves with a mailer calling out members of the Legislature who opposed expansion to MaineCare. GOP lawmakers are saying the mailer is an example of the worst in "personal attack" politics. Mike Tipping is communications director for the Maine People's Alliance, and he joins Don and Mark to explain what happened.
The Department of Health and Human Services is moving forward with a "pilot program" issuing EBT cards emblazoned with a photo. This despite warnings from the federal government the program could make Maine subject to litigation and a loss of federal funding. The LePage administration continues to argue this is a major method for fighting fraud. Shawn Yardley of Penobscot Community Health Care has worked with benefits recipients in the Bangor area for years, and Shawn tells Don and Mark this program is NOT a major source of fraud.
